1. Permitted positions for advertising stickers on trucks

According to Article 32 of the Law on Advertising on transportation vehicles, it is not allowed to place advertisements on the front, rear, or roof of a vehicle.

In practice, for trucks, advertising maquettes can only be applied to the two side panels of the truck’s cargo box. Typically, PP printed decals with glossy or matte lamination are used to ensure both aesthetic appeal and durability under outdoor conditions.

2. Permitted area for truck advertising stickers

The size of advertising decals on transportation vehicles must not exceed 50% of the permitted area on each advertising surface.

However, with truck cargo boxes being sealed compartments carrying goods (not passengers), placing stickers does not affect driver visibility. Therefore, it is acceptable to cover either the entire two side panels of the truck or 50% of each side.

To achieve a better, flatter surface for decal application, the installation team may add a thin sheet of metal outside the box before applying the decal. Sticker dimensions are measured according to each truck’s actual size.

3. Procedures for truck advertising approval

Under the latest advertising laws, advertising permits for trucks are no longer required. Instead, advertisers need to carry out a notification procedure for advertising content.

With this update, investors only need to prepare a notification dossier and submit it to the local Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism about 10 days before launching the campaign. The notification dossier, as required by the truck advertising regulations, includes:

A written notification of the advertising product clearly stating the content, time, location of the advertisement, and number of advertising products.
A copy of the business registration certificate of the advertising service provider or the advertiser (if self-advertising).
A copy of documents proving product/service compliance with relevant standards and regulations, or documents proving advertising eligibility.

Businesses should submit the notification dossier on time and ensure that the advertising maquette and content are in line with local customs and regulations. Advertising banned products or services is strictly prohibited.

4. Penalties for violations of truck advertising regulations

The truck advertising regulations also specify penalties for violations as follows:

Incorrect sticker placement or size: Fine from 2,000,000 to 5,000,000 VND.
Vehicle missing required logo or information: Fine from 1,000,000 to 4,000,000 VND.

Any advertising that violates these regulations will be required to be removed. Therefore, businesses must pay attention and strictly comply with these rules to avoid affecting campaign timelines or brand image.
